Early works
The early nineteensixties were colourless times, even in the textile-industry. There was a preference for grey and brown.
When I first entered the studio of Prof. Thyra Hamann-Hartmann, I was filled with enthusiasm. I saw splendid tapestries and fabrics in the most beautiful colours. This gave me an immense incentive. Her personality was of great importance for me.
The curriculum of the Fachhochschule was based on the Bauhaus tradition and comprised painting, drawing, nature studies, design and design-practice. In addition to these compulsory subjects, the students were encouraged to try free painting.
